UPDATE: Standoff in Bright

UPDATE:

After 17 hours,  ISP along with the Dearborn County Sheriffs Department, and Greendale Police Department came to a peaceful end to a standoff barricaded person in a residence on Banberry Drive in bright. According to the court affidavit, on Tuesday, deputies arrived on the scene in reference to a call of a man threatening self-harm with a handgun. Nicholas A Gregory, 38, of West Harrison, forced entry into the residence of his girlfriend’s parents.

According to the police affidavit, the couple had a verbal and physical altercation earlier that evening in Franklin County.  The mother and the girlfriend went to leave and Gregory fired the weapon twice while they drove away.  Gregory then drove to the parents home and entered from a basement window.  When law enforcement arrived on the scene, Gregory ran upstairs to a bathroom that he barricaded himself in.  Law enforcement was able to get all the family members out of the home.

Gregory has been charged with burglary while armed with a deadly weapon.

Indiana State Police along with the Dearborn County Sheriffs Department and Greendale Police Department are currently on the scene of a barricaded person in a residence on Banberry Drive in Bright. Stateline Road is shutdown between North Dearborn and Einsel Road.

‪The situation began yesterday shortly before 10 pm. Police have not indicated what led to the standoff.

‪There is no danger to the public at this time but law enforcement ask the public to avoid the area until the situation is resolved.
