GDC Defends Swimming Championship

Nearly 250 swimmers, ages five to 18, gathered Saturday at Greensburg High School to compete in the season-ending Southeastern Indiana Swimming Association conference championship.

Swimmers were assigned to swim in either the morning or afternoon session, depending on their age. Kids 10 and under swam in the morning while the middle school and high school aged swimmers took over in the afternoon.

Greensburg/Decatur County defended the home turf and their championship from last year by taking this year’s title.  Combining both boys and girls point totals, Decatur County amassed 2,076 points.

Milan Aquatics battled to second place with 1,596 and Batesville finished third, scoring 1,334.

High school swimmers will start preparation for their other sport fall seasons or prepare for the high school swim season when practices start in October. Congrats to all the participants on a great meet – Southeastern Indiana continues to show it has plenty of young talent in the pool.
