Jennings County run-ruled Batesville 16-4 in 5 innings in the Class 3A softball sectional at Franklin County as heard last night on the Sports Voice. Grace Copley drove in all four of the Bulldogs’ runs…In the second game at Franklin County, also heard on WRBI, Greensburg whipped Lawrenceburg 7-1.

In other sectionals involving area teams last evening, East Central downed Columbus East 9-4 in 4A play at Whiteland, and North Decatur dumped Morristown 9-1 in Class 1A at Tri. The Jac-Cen-Del/Milan semifinal in Class 1A at Rising Sun was postponed to this evening.

Coming up tonight in Class 1A at Tri, South Decatur goes up against Knightstown.

Baseball sectional action begins tonight for area teams, weather permitting, and we have a Class 3A doubleheader from Batesville on the Sports Voice. Franklin County takes on South Dearborn, followed by the host Bulldogs against Lawrenceburg in the nightcap. Coverage begins at 5:15 on 103.9 FM and the WRBI App – again, weather permitting.

North Decatur won its sixth consecutive Mid-Hoosier Conference golf title last night at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh. The Chargers team score was 352. South Decatur fired a 502. North Decatur’s Scott Morford shot a career-low 80 to claim Individual Conference Champion honors.

The Cincinnati Reds rolled over the New York Mets 7-2 at Citi Field last night. Chase Burns won his seventh game of the year, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on four hits while striking out eight. Offensively, JJ Bleday went 3 for 5 with a run scored; Tyler Stephenson had two hits and reached base three times, and Eugenio Suarez got the Reds scoring started with a two-out, two-run double in the 1st inning. All told, the Reds had 15 hits on the night. Cincinnati goes for the series sweep tonight. Andrew Abbott gets the start for the Reds. He’s 4-2 with a 3.97 ERA. First pitch is at 7:10. We’ll join the game in progress following high school tournament baseball.

Indiana University men’s basketball has announced that the Hoosiers will face the Kentucky Wildcats at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on November 20. The announcement comes after the Hoosiers and Wildcats renewed their college basketball rivalry last season after having not faced off since 2011.
