Construction around Batesville will continue for at least the next month and a half.
Nine downtown businesses are getting a facelift as part of the façade improvement program. The businesses are open despite appearing to be closed during renovations.
Batesville Mayor Rick Fledderman said, “The businesses and the community have been cooperative. The businesses are open and we are trying to get the word out.”
The businesses impacted by the façade program include: Ison’s Pizza, Fullenkamp Sporting Goods and Jim’s Engraving, Stands Salon and Day Spa, Sherman House, Stitch ‘N Time, French’s Locker, Office Shop, the Tucker Building on Sycamore Street, and the old Knights of Columbus building on Boehringer and Main Street.
Fledderman hinted at downtown restoration work being completed by mid-November.
Local drivers are still experiencing delays due to repaving on State Road 46.
The Paul H. Rohe Company—INDOT’s contractor for this $704,775 asphalt overlay project—is milling and resurfacing pavement along the 2.8 mile-section of highway.
The contract completion date is November 15, but Rohe hopes to finish its work in mid to late October—weather permitting.
