Greensburg, IN — Economic Development Corp. Director Bryan Robbins appeared before Greensburg City Council Wednesday night for a presentation on the formation of a Regional Development Authority (RDA), which would disperse READI funds.

The City of Greensburg and Decatur County are both part of the Accelerate Rural Indiana (ARI) READI group, which includes Rush and Shelby counties, and the cities of Batesville, Rushville, and Shelbyville.

Robbins told the city council that right now there is no official regional entity administering the $20 million in READI funds ARI received late last year.

The money is currently being administered through the Decatur County Community Foundation. He says while the organization’s efforts are appreciated, Robbins and others believe a regional group should be in control of the funds.

The RDA would be composed of five members appointed to four-year staggered terms. Robbins says RDA members cannot be elected officials.

The plan will go before Decatur County Council, with final approval from all parties expected in December.
