Ralph graduated from Holton High School in 1954. After graduating he took a job at Chris Volz Motors in Milan Indiana where he worked until he enlisted in the US Air Force on July 5, 1957. On August 20, 1960 while home on leave he married the love of his life and wife of 65 years, Joyce Ann Franklin, who preceded him in death on December 13, 2025. After their marriage, they both returned to Wiesbaden, Germany where he finished out his enlistment. Upon returning to the states their union was blessed with five children: Jim, Sheri, Jon, Merri & Terri. Upon returning from Germany, Ralph resumed working for Chris Volz Motors until he took a position with Cummins Engine company in Columbus, Indiana. Soon realizing factory work was not for him, Ralph decided he would rather be self–employed and started Miller’s Garage in Holton. He later started Miller Excavating which was his main livelihood for the remainder of his working career. Survivors include their children James (Bonnie) Miller of Noblesville, Sheri (Robbie) Works of Vevay, Jon (Millissa) Miller of Olathe, CO, Merri (Tim) Stephens of Osgood, and Terri (Mike) Stein of Sardinia, OH, 23 grandchildren, and 41 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Leslie, Paul, and Roy, and his sisters Leola Ebinger, Florence Miller, and Mary Thola; 1 grandchild and 1 great-grandchild. Ralph and Joyce were members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Osgood. Ralph spent several years volunteering as a member of the Holton Volunteer Fire Department. Ralph was involved in sports from a young age which continued during his time in the Air Force as he played on both their basketball and baseball teams while stationed in Germany.  His love of sports never seemed to dwindle even into his senior years playing on a senior’s softball league while spending winters in Florida.  Fishing was also a favorite pastime in Florida and his annual Canada fishing trips with friends and family. Ralph’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Osgood at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 25 with Father Binu Mathew officiating. Burial will follow at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Osgood with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion.
