Nona Kay Mincher – Friendship, Indiana

Nona Kay Mincher, formerly of Friendship, Indiana, passed away on October 28, 2023, at her residence in Williamsburg, Virginia.  She was born on November 10, 1947, in Roswell, New Mexico, a daughter to Wesley Orval and Clarice Green Mellard.   She met Gary L. Mincher during High School in Roswell.  They attended the University of New Mexico and on September 6, 1969, they were united in marriage at Our Lady of Fatima in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  She was a military wife for twenty years, living in Texas, New York, New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Germany while Gary served in the Air Force.  After retiring from the military, they called Omaha, NE, then Salisbury, NC, home, until moving to Friendship, IN.  She was a loving mother and wife, an accomplished artist, played guitar and enjoyed singing, reading and all their years of travel while living overseas.  Nona and Gary were members of St. Philomena/St.Cecelia in Brookville, Indiana for 10 years.

Those surviving who will cherish Nona’s memory include her children; Jennifer (Gregory) Gaddie of Friendship, Meggan (John) Gallagher currently of Williamsburg, VA, Joshua (Alicia) Mincher of Friendship, and Michael Mincher currently of Williamsburg, VA; 16 Grandchildren; and her younger sister Corinne Rigby, of West Chazy, NY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gary on July 7, 2017, a grandchild, Emma in August 2017, and her older sister Michele Kendall.

On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at 4:45 p.m. Rosary will be prayed, followed by visitation for friends and family from 5 until 7 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.  The funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Howard Remski will be on Wednesday, at St. Philomena/St. Cecilia Church, 16194 St. Mary’s Road, Brookville at 12 noon.  The Rosary will begin at 11:30, and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
