(Indianapolis, IN) – Governor Mike Braun says the first round of funding from the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative (READI) created an estimated economic impact across Indiana of more than $675 million.
These results come from a program evaluation conducted by Purdue University Center for Regional Development and Indiana University Public Policy Institute, providing a comprehensive account of the influence the first funding round of READI investments made on Indiana income, job growth, cultural enrichment, taxes and more.

Highlights of the report include insight into the magnitude of matching funds contributed by private investors, local and regional development groups, and municipalities, multiplying the impact and reach of READI dollars across Indiana. The economic development initiative also had a measurable impact on employment; to date, READI’s first round has funded the creation of an estimated 3,523 jobs.
The report includes summaries of READI impacts for each of Indiana’s regions. This wide array of projects has helped to spur talent attraction, tourism, and cultural and community pride — improving Hoosiers’ quality of life and opportunity while strengthening families and communities.
In the I-74 Southeast Corridor (Accelerate Rural Indiana/Decatur, Rush, and Shelby counties and the City of Batesville) region, as of January 6, 2026, 84 percent of the region’s allocated funds had been expended.
The analysis reveals that disbursed READI state funds in the I-74 Southeast Corridor region generated almost $21 million in total regional economic output. This included over $8 million in estimated labor income. From disbursed funds, READI projects in this region supported an estimated 16o regional jobs, including 135 direct jobs and 25 indirect and induced jobs.
In Southeastern Indiana (SEI READI/Dearborn, Franklin, Ripley, Ohio and Switzerland counties), 78 percent of the region’s allocated funding has been expended as of January 6, 2026.
The analysis reveals that disbursed READI state funds in the Southeast region generated over $15 million in total regional economic output. This impact included over $5 million in estimated labor income. From disbursed funds, READI projects in this region supported an estimated 97 regional jobs, including 74 direct jobs and 23 indirect and induced jobs.
The report’s estimates reflect state-funded project spending prior to January 6, 2026 — which includes 405 projects representing nearly $400 million in READI grant awards.
The Indiana General Assembly launched the READI initiative in 2021 with a $500 million appropriation to fund place-based, quality-of-life, and economic development projects in 17 regions representing all 92 Indiana counties. In its first phase (READI 1.0), 416 projects were approved across the state, focusing on quality of life, quality of place, and quality of opportunity.
