Mr. Gary Rowlett

Mr. Gary Rowlett, age 74, of Moorefield, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Norton’s Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville Kentucky from complications related to cancer. He entered life on November 20, 1947, in Bedford, Kentucky to Lawrence Raymond Rowlett and Nevada Greene Rowlett. He moved to Switzerland County at the age of 13 and attended school at Vevay High School. Gary was united in marriage to Margaret Ann Scudder on October 28, 1967, at the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield, Indiana and they shared over 55 years of marriage together. Gary and Margaret Ann had one daughter, Sherry.

Gary was employed in the late 1960s by Williard Liter Construction and assisted in installing water lines for Patriot Water Company. Gary worked for 42 years at Reliance Electric Company in Madison, Indiana until his retirement in 2007. He also proudly served in the Army Reserves and was a member of the American Legion Post #185. He and Margaret Ann also sponsored awards in the beef program in the Switzerland County 4-H Program. Later, he served on the Switzerland Soil and Conservation Board. He farmed all his life, raising tobacco and hay along with registered Simmental cattle. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and made several trips to Sturgis, South Dakota and the West Coast. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and visiting neighbors. He deeply loved Maggie Rowlett, his “dog daughter.”

He is survived by Margaret Ann, his wife of 55 years and Sherry Rowlett, his daughter, along with Carlos Delgado, his son in law, of Martinsburg, West Virginia. He also leaves a sister, Eileen Moore and her husband Jerry of Bloomington, Indiana along with Dennis Rowlett, his brother, of Moorefield, Indiana. He will also be missed by Danny Liter, his close friend, along with his “Sunday Morning Breakfast Crew.” In addition, he leaves several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Also surviving is Maggie Rowlett, his “dog daughter,” who he loved immensely.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nevada Greene Rowlett (1994) and Lawrence Raymond Rowlett (2003) along with one niece and several aunts and uncles.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 14, 2022, by Rev. Mike Jones in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
