Milan Football loses to Royals on a second chance field goal

Talk about a tough loss.  Milan lost on a last second field goal to Eastern Hancock Friday 26-24.  Not only was the kick made as triple zeros were shown on the scoreboard.  It was a second chance field goal.

The Royals were lined up to kick a field goal with seconds left in the game.  Before the ball was snapped, Eastern Hancock was whistled for a false start.  While kicker Aaron Redmond followed through with the attempt, the try, which he missed, didn’t matter.  The Royals were pushed back five yards and they set up to kick again.  This time, there was no whistle, the kick was good from 29 yards out, time expired, and Milan lost a heartbreaker by two.

Milan’s Brad Voss said the game was a very back-and-forth competitive contest and a tough loss.  The Indians Logan Reed scored on a 3-yard run for the go ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Logan Burton’s extra point made it 24-17 Milan with 6:56 to play.

Eastern Hancock’s Zach Arnold raced 76 yards for a touchdown just 14 seconds later; however, the kick by Redmond after failed.  The Indians still led 24-23.  But Redmond later got two opportunities for the game winning triple at the buzzer and won it for the Royals.
