STATEHOUSE — Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh testified Tuesday morning before the Indiana Senate Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee on Senate Bill 4 (pictured).

The measure would allow local governments to oversee funds for local workforce recruiting and retention – including in-state remote workers.

Marsh said the bill is not a mandate for communities to set up or fund.

“It’s a really good opportunity that the state is giving local communities this concept of a separate fund for talent attraction, retention, and incentives,” Marsh said.

During testimony at the Statehouse, Marsh touted Greensburg and Decatur County’s success with the Make My Move Initiative, which is a partnership between the city and county commissioners.

The Mayor says the local initiative, which was launched this past fall, can be a model for the rest of the state.

The committee voted 12-0 in favor of the bill, which now moves on to the full Senate for consideration.
