Marie C. Chilton, 97, of Aurora, IN, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
She was born September 8, 1926, in Campbellsburg, KY, daughter of the late Dee Deamron and Tinnie (Garriot) Deamron.
Marie was a factory worker with many years of service. She served her community as a taxi cab driver for part of her life as well. She attended the Alliance Church, First Baptist Church of Aurora, and Trinity Christian Center. She and her husband, Roy always enjoyed hosting family gatherings, playing cards with family and friends, and she was a great cook. They also liked fishing and remodeling houses together. In her later years, she enjoyed singing with her family, other visitors and residents, and the staff at Shady Nook Care Center, entertaining them by telling stories, and telling most everyone how “beautiful they are.” One of her funniest stories was about how her sister, “Big” could sing, and the boys could play guitar, and she could play the “static on the radio.” But, she truly had a wonderful voice, and she had a love for hymns and songs of all kinds. She was a delight to many that met her.
Marie is survived by her sister, Irene (Jack) Fischer of Lawrenceburg, IN; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Roy L Chilton; daughter, Lisa Chilton; parents, Dee and Tinnie Deamron; siblings, Phillip (Jean) Deamron, Clifton (Thelma) Deamron, Mildred (Joe) Coblin.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 28th at 11 am at the Mount Sinai Cemetery in Aurora, IN.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shady Nook Care Center Activities Center c/o Lindsey Boltz.
