(Statewide) – Get ready to cool off.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) public swimming pools in Indiana State Parks will open soon, as will DNR swimming beaches.

Pools opening Saturday, May 25 include Versailles State Park along with Clifty Falls, Brown County, Shakamak, and Spring Mill state parks, and Cagles Mill Lake (Lieber State Recreation Area [SRA]).

The aquatic centers at Prophetstown and O’Bannon Woods state parks also open on Saturday. Prophetstown features a lazy river, slides, and an aquatic activity area, and O’Bannon Woods also welcomes guests to check out their waterslides.

The public pool at Turkey Run State Park will open on Monday, May 27. The public pool at McCormick’s Creek State Park opens Friday, May 31.

The beach at Indiana Dunes State Park will open on Memorial Day weekend (May 25-27), with lifeguards on duty. The beach will close for swimming May 28-30, then re-open Friday, May 31.

Beaches that offer swimming with no lifeguards open this weekend at  Chain O’Lakes, Lincoln, Ouabache, Pokagon, Potato Creek, Summit Lake, and Whitewater Memorial state parks; at Starve Hollow and Deam Lake SRAs; and at Brookville Lake, plus Cecil M. Harden (Raccoon SRA), Hardy, Mississinewa, Patoka, and Salamonie lakes, as well as at Ferdinand State Forest.

Beaches at Monroe Lake (Paynetown SRA and Fairfax SRA) will be closed due to high water levels. Cagles Mill Lake’s beach (Lieber SRA) will also not be open due to high water levels, but guests there can still enjoy the public swimming pool.

Beaches generally remain open through Labor Day. Public pools generally are open through early to mid-August, depending on the availability of lifeguards as they return to school.

For public pool or beach hours at the property you plan to visit, contact the property directly since these vary by location. Directory information can be found at stateparks.IN.gov.
