Brookville, IN — A Brookville man who pled guilty to a pair of charges stemming from a deadly head-on crash nearly two years ago has received the maximum penalty.

44-year-old Joshua Trammell was sentenced this week by Franklin Circuit Judge Steven Cox to 32 years in prison.

Trammell pled guilty back in January to Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance Causing Death (Level 4 felony) and to a Habitual Offender sentence enhancement.

The charges stemmed from a crash on US 52 near Yellow Bank Road on July 7, 2021, that claimed the life of 46-year-old Jenni Fasbinder of Brookville (pictured).

Investigators say Trammell’s pickup truck went left of center and struck Fasbinder’s car head-on.

Fasbinder was pronounced dead at the scene, while Trammell was treated for serious injuries at Margaret Mary Health.

While in the hospital emergency room, investigators say they obtained a blood sample from Trammell which indicated illegal substances in his system.

A month later, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies say results indicated Trammell had meth and amphetamines in his system and that he was under the influence at the time of the deadly wreck.

Deputies say two hypodermic needles were found in the wreckage of Trammell’s pickup.

The other charges against Trammell – Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death (Level 4 felony); Reckless Homicide (Level 5 felony), and Illegal Possession of a Syringe (Level 6 felony) – were dropped as part of the plea agreement that was accepted earlier this year.
