Brookville, IN — A Brookville man charged in connection with a deadly crash in the summer of 2021 has pleaded guilty to several charges.

According to court documents, 44-year-old Joshua Trammell pleaded guilty to Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance Causing Death (Level 4 felony) and to a Habitual Offender sentence enhancement.

Trammell was accused of driving left of center on US 52 near Yellow Bank Road on July 7, 2021, when his pickup truck collided head-on with a car driven by 46-year-old Jenni Fasbinder, also of Brookville (pictured).

Fasbinder was pronounced dead at the scene, while Trammell was treated for serious injuries at Margaret Mary Health.

While in the hospital emergency room, investigators say they obtained a blood sample from Trammell which indicated illegal substances in his system.

A month later, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies say results indicated Trammell had meth and amphetamines in his system and that he was under the influence at the time of the deadly wreck.

He was arrested on August 12, 2021.

Other charges – such as Reckless Homicide and Illegal Possession of a Syringe – are being dropped as part of the plea agreement.

Trammell faces up to 32 years in prison when he’s sentenced on March 1 in Franklin Circuit Court.
