RIPLEY/DEARBORN COUNTIES, IN — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Paul H. Rohe Company plans to begin work on or after Friday, July 15, to repair concrete pavement along U.S. 50 in Ripley and Dearborn counties.
Sections of pavement recently buckled near Dillsboro due to hot temperatures, causing it to expand.
Starting as early as Friday, contract crews will close the right eastbound lane of U.S. 50 to begin saw cutting and sealing expansion joints.
Lanes will close in sections for multiple miles at a time.
The closures will move as work progresses.
Once work is complete on eastbound U.S. 50, the contractor will move to westbound lanes.
The limits of the repair work are from just west of State Road 101 to west of Aurora near Dutch Hollow Road.
The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph through the work zone.
Repairs are expected to be complete by mid-August, weather permitting.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones.
All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
