Lady Wildcats And Lady Bulldogs Split Games

Kamryn McCool had all her pitches working on Tuesday evening, and the Wildcat bats put together their best offensive performance of the season in a 10-0 victory over the Batseville Bulldogs. The Wildcats extended their winning streak to four games with the victory, improving their record to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in EIAC play. Batesville’s record falls to 1-10 overall and 0-8 in EIAC play.

Franklin County got the scoring started in the top of the second inning where the Wildcats were able to push across 4 runs in the inning. The Wildcats had three hits in the inning and scored all four runs with two outs.

The Wildcats were then able to fully put the game out of reach thanks to six runs in the third inning. The rally was led by singles by Abby Orschell and Hannah Hornsby, a walk by Gabby Mitchum, and an error on a ball put in play by McCool. Orschell, Mitchum, McCool and Hornsby all added RBIs in the big inning.

The Bulldogs only managed two hits all game. K Obermeyer added a single for the home team in the 2nd inning and K Laker added one of her own in the 3rd inning.

Kamryn McCool took the win for Franklin County. She went five innings, allowing zero runs on two hits, striking out 11 and walking zero.

Obermeyer took the loss for Batesville. She surrendered seven runs on five hits over two innings, striking out one.

Franklin County tallied nine hits in the game. Kloe Bolos and Kamryn McCool each collected two hits to lead the Wildcats. McCool and Bolos each collected two hits to lead the Wildcats. Franklin County’s defense was also spectacular this evening, as it didn’t commit a single error in the field.

The Wildcats will be back in action at home on Wednesday evening for an EIAC double header against Connersville. It is also youth night, so come out and support your Wildcats in what should be a great evening of softball. First pitch scheduled for 5pm.

The Batesville Bulldog JV softball team defeated Franlkin County Tuesday evening by a score of 10-2.  Patience at the plate and aggressiveness on the basebaths propelled the Bulldogs to victory.

Batesville jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.  They tallied six runs in the second and pushed another across in the third.

The JV Bulldogs collected four hits on the evening.  Abby Westerfeld, Gwen Martin, Hannah Nunlist, and McKenzie Laker all had one a piece.  Westerfeld led the Bulldogs with three runs scored.

Paige Oldham was solid on the mound throwing all five innings for Bulldogs while punching out five Lady Wildcat hitters.

Batesville JV softball will next be in action Friday night at home against Rushville.

The Batesville Lady Bulldog Softball team lost to Franklin County last night by the score of 10-0 in 5 innings.

Franklin County’s McCool put up another outstanding pitching performance striking out 11 Bulldogs, walking zero batters, and only allowing 2 hits on the game.

The Bulldog pitchers, Obermeyer and Westerfeld, only allowed 2 earned runs on the game with 4 strikeouts.

The 1st inning showed great potential for a defensive turnaround when Obermeyer, from the pitcher’s mound, dove for a ball between home and made a great catch. Then a few plays later Wilson, from 1st base, dove for a foul ball, and just came up short.

The two lone Batesville hits came from Obermeyer (hard ground ball to RC field) and Laker (drag bunt).

Wilson ended the game with 5 putouts while Cornn ended with 3.

Next up – Rushville at home Friday with a 5:30 game time.

Franklin County Wildcats JV watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-3 loss to Batesville on Tuesday. Franklin County Wildcats JV lost despite out-hitting Batesville seven to four. With the loss, Franklin County’s record on JV falls to 3-7 on the year and 1-4 in EIAC play.

Batesville got on the board early in the first scoring on a walk by Oldham, then a passed ball during Saler’s at bat later in the inning.

Batesville kept on the gas pedal in the second when they scored six runs. Batesville offense in the inning was led by Westerfeld, Wenlist, Martin, Phibos, and M Laker, all driving in runs in the frame.

Oldham got the win for Batesville. She lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one.

Karlie Hahn took the loss for Franklin County Wildcats JV. She allowed two hits and nine runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.

Hahn also led Franklin County Wildcats JV with two hits in three at bats including a single and a triple. Morgan Bare, Sarah Bare, Sam Neaves, and Destiny Lanham all added singles for the Wildcats, while Laura Hildebrand had a double.

Franklin County’s JV will be back in action next Monday when they travel to Lawrenceburg to take on the Tigers. It will immediately follow the varsity game.
