Kedrowitz sentencing delayed

The older brother of 11-month-old Nathaniel Ritz (left) and two-year-old Desiree McCartney is scheduled to be sentenced in February after he was found guilty by a jury in Ripley Circuit Court back in August on both murder counts in connection with their 2017 deaths.

VERSAILLES, IN — Sentencing for convicted double-murderer Nickalas Kedrowitz has been delayed until February.

Judge Ryan King granted a defense motion to reschedule sentencing, which was set for Wednesday in Ripley Circuit Court.

A jury convicted Kedrowitz in August on two murder counts in connection with the 2017 smothering deaths of two younger siblings, two-year-old Desiree McCartney and 11-month-old Nathaniel Ritz, in a pair of incidents separated by 80 days at their home on Maple Street in Osgood.

Kedrowitz was 17 years old when he stood trial and is not eligible for the death penalty because of his age.

He faces 45 to 65 years in prison on each count.

Sentencing is now scheduled for February 1, 2022, at 1:30 pm in Ripley Circuit Court.
