DC Recycling’s final e-recycling, shredding event of the year set for Saturday

DECATUR COUNTY, IN — It’s the final chance this year for Decatur County residents to recycle and give back.

Decatur County Recycling will hold its last electronics recycling and paper shredding event of 2021 Saturday from 9 until 11 am at the Decatur County Fairgrounds.

The event will benefit Santa’s Heroes, which was formerly known as Shop With A Cop.

“Two years ago, the committee revamped the program,” said Ashley Wilson with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and a member of Greensburg Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #104, which operates Santa’s Heroes.

The program benefits local children in need by providing them with meals, warm clothing, toys and a celebration to brighten their spirits during the holiday season.

“This year, we are looking to help between 150 and 200 kids in Decatur County,” Wilson added.

All money received by Santa’s Heroes goes back into the community and to local children.

Saturday’s recycling event is open to Decatur County residents only.
