Julius Bernard Huffman

Julius B. Huffman, age 93 of Bright, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, in Bright, Indiana. Born April 11, 1930, in Cleves, Ohio, the son of Garnett and Blanche (Tucker) Huffman.

Julius served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1952 to 1954 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Married Joyce Lyttle, the love of his life, on July 13, 1952, in Cleves, Ohio and was married for 66 years before Joyce passed away on September 28, 2018. A member of Lawrenceburg Masonic Lodge F&AM #4, Bright Fire Department for over 60 years, Bright Lions Club, Bright Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star Chapter #427, Murat Shrine Temple, Indianapolis, American Legion, and received the “Golden Hoosier” award on September 15, 2021 for outstanding community service.  Julius worked for CG&E, Miami Fort, retiring after 44 years, and later went on to work for the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department for 28 years.  In his spare time, Julius enjoyed mowing, participating in civic clubs, playing euchre, and spending time with family and friends.  Julius never met a stranger; he enjoyed helping his community and talking to everyone around him.

He is survived by his children Julia (Dennis) Sobchuk of Bellingham, Washington, and Stephen (Debbie) Huffman of Aurora, Indiana. Grandfather of Justin (Megan) Sobchuk, Ashley (Miles) Sobchuk-Hudson, Lindsay (Tyler Eaton) Huffman, and Katelyn (Nick Allen) Huffman.  Great-grandfather of Carson, Jameson, Clayton, Bearett, and Hayden.

Julius is preceded in death by his parents Garnett Huffman and Blanche Tucker, step-father Sy Tucker, wife Joyce Huffman, daughter Joyce Ann Huffman, and several siblings.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 3, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. Jerry Grigsby officiating, all at Bright Providence Presbyterian Church, 23983 Salt Fork Road, Lawrenceburg, Indiana 47025.  Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery in Bright, Indiana with military honors provided by the United States Army and Harrison Funeral Detail.
