Jim’s Journal, March 5th, 2024

We’ve had things come together for our coverage of the boys’ high school basketball regionals this coming weekend.  And despite the two games going on at the same time, we’ll have the live play-by-play action of both for you.

Saturday afternoon, Batesville’s Bulldogs will be playing the Scottsburg Warriors, in Seymour, and the Oldenburg Academy Twisters and Greenwood Christian Cougars will square off in Martinsville, both games tipping at 4:00, following half an hour of pregame coverage.

Our great management’s gone out and gotten the best connections set up for you. The Bulldogs and Scottsburg will be heard on 103.9 FM, plus streaming on WRBIRadio.com and the new WRBI app… and the Twisters and Greenwood Christian will also be on the app and website.  The key will be when you pull up the app or WRBIRadio.com, you’ll see a second logo, saying “WRBI2.”  Go to your tab bar that shows “other streams,” and just select “WRBI2” in order to hear it.  You’ll be able to flip back and forth if you like, as well.

In spring training Cactus League baseball Monday, the Reds put it to the A’s, 15-8.  Today, it’ll be a day off for Cincinnati, before split-squad action Wednesday against the Brewers and the Padres.  Tomorrow’s on-air game will be the one against Milwaukee, pregame coverage on the Reds network starting at 2:50 in the afternoon on 103.9 FM, WRBI.

The new AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll that came out Monday kept Houston in the top spot for a second week, the Cougars getting 52 of the 62 available first-place votes.  Connecticut leapfrogged to Number 2, ahead of 3rd-place Purdue.  Tennessee and Arizona are numbers 4 and 5.  The Boilermakers dropped a spot, despite beating Michigan State 80-74, and grabbing at least a share of the Big 10 title for a second straight year.

Men’s games coming up tonight include that new Number 3 Purdue squad visiting 12th-ranked Illinois.  Also, UC’s Bearcats go to Oklahoma…  and in Muncie, Ball State gets a visit from Kent State.

And following a Sunday loss to the Spurs, the NBA Pacers are still in Texas, where tonight they’ll face the Mavericks, in Dallas.
