Last night in Tampa, the Reds managed to beat the Rays in 10 innings, the final 3-2.  Three runs on 3 hits for the Reds, with no errors, and they left 4.  The Rays had only 2 runs on 7 hits, 2 errors, and they left 10 men stranded on base.  Although Nick Lodolo started for Cincinnati, Nick Martinez earned the pitching win, and he’s now 4 & 5 on the year.  Losing it for Tampa, Manuel Rodriguez, with a record of 1 & 2.  Alexis Diaz earned his 20th save of the year for the Reds.  The series continues today, Cincinnati looking for its 4th straight win.  This afternoon’s broadcast arrives on your radio at 3:40, on the Sports Voice, 103.9 WRBI.

The Games of the 33rd Olympiad are underway in Paris, following opening ceremonies last night that took each nation’s teams up the River Seine in a parade of boats.  The event went on for hours as fountains and colored lights well into the night let the world know something very special was about to go on.  The events have begun in a variety of sports.  There’s women’s synchronized springboard diving…  rowing, in men’s and women’s single sculls…  some of the early rounds of tennis…  preliminaries in men’s handball…  and mixed doubles and women’s singles in badminton.

Both nearby NFL teams, the Colts and the Bengals, have opened their summer training camps for 2024.  Team doctors have cleared Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson for practice.  The number 4 overall pick in last year’s NFL draft started only 4 games, and finished only one, due to multiple injuries.  He had season-ending surgery on his passing shoulder last October.  For the Bengals, quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t throw any passes Friday, so Jake Browning took snaps with the first team.

In the NBA, the Pacers have re-signed guard Andrew Nembhard to a new 3-year, $59,000,000 contract extension.  The new deal begins in the ’25-’26 season.  ESPN reports Nembhard averaged nearly 15 points and 5 ½ assists per game, with 56% shooting, during Indiana’s run to its conference finals.  Andrew’s playing for Team Canada at the Paris Olympics.
