(Washington, D.C.) – Congratulations to Jac-Cen-Del High School student Michaela McDaniel.
She took third place in the Ninth Congressional District Art Competition.
McDaniel’s artwork (pictured) is titled “The Metamora Canal Boat,” which will be displayed for one year in Congresswoman Erin Houchin’s district office in Salem.
First place went to “Teal Flowers” by Olivia Briscoe from Salem High School.
“Synthetic Sanctuary” by Scottsburg High School’s Anagail Mulley took second place and the People’s Choice award.
“The Congressional Art Competition is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the creativity and talent of students across Indiana’s Ninth District,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “I was incredibly impressed by the quality of this year’s submissions and grateful to every student who participated. Congratulations to Olivia, Anagail, and Michaela on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you to the teachers, families, and schools who encourage and support these talented young artists.”
The Congressional Art Competition is an annual event sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives to recognize and encourage artistic talent among high school students in each congressional district.
