(Lawrenceburg, IN) – A jury trial has been scheduled for January 20 in the case of Brett “Mooch” Hamilton.

He pled not guilty Tuesday in Dearborn Circuit Court to stealing more than $115,000 from the Dillsboro Civic Club while he was the organization’s president.

Hamilton is charged with felony Theft, Fraud, Money Laundering, Corrupt Business Influence and Official Misconduct.

According to an affidavit, the 46-year-old Hamilton allegedly stole the money from 2018 until earlier this year while he was in charge of the Dillsboro Homecoming Festival, and used the dollars for personal gain.

A bank employee flagged some transactions in July, which touched off the investigation.

Hamilton is accused of using the civic club’s credit card for 65 Amazon transactions; cash withdrawals at three Las Vegas casinos; tickets to Reds games; George Strait and James Taylor concert tickets; food and drink, gas and auto, retail, and personal transactions.

He successfully ran for Greendale City Council in November 2023 and was sworn in to office in 2024. Investigators say Hamilton also used some of the money for his campaign and to attend political events.

Hamilton’s wife, Greendale Assistant Police Chief Pam Taylor, was interview at the Indiana State Police Versailles Post in September and admitted that she and her family benefitted from some of her husband’s purchases.

Taylor is not facing charges in the case at this time.

Hamilton’s bond was set at $50,000 surety along with $50,000 cash.
