(Oldenburg, IN) – The Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg, in partnership with RDOOR Housing Corporation, broke ground Wednesday on Spires Senior Village.
The Sisters say the Spires Senior Village is a transformative housing initiative that will bring new life and purpose to the now-vacant Theresa and Olivia halls.
Remarks were delivered at the groundbreaking ceremony by Sr. Maureen Irvin on behalf of the Order; Oldenburg Town Council President Brian Clegg; Indiana Housing and Community Development Executive Director Tom Pearson; Maxwell Construction President Jeff Lyness, and RDOOR founder and board member Mike Petrie.

Greg Stocking with RDOOR served as master of ceremonies.
Through this initiative, RDOOR has a $21 million investment from the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), Historic Tax Credit, and HUD 202 programs.
Upon completion, Spires Senior Village will offer 67 one-bedroom apartments designed to provide housing for older adults looking for independent living.
As part of the housing agreement, residents must be 62 years of age or older, pass a background and credit check, and be income-qualified for all but five market-rate apartments.
In addition, the former chapel in Olivia Hall will become an Adult Day Care Center operated by Catholic Charities.
The center will be open to the public, and provide services and support for older adults and their families.
The project is expected to be complete in late 2027.
