Franklin County runs at Oldenburg and sets a course record

Franklin County coach Stacey Nobbe said the rain Tuesday stopped just long enough for the Wildcat cross country teams to run their 5K meet at Oldenburg Academy.  FCHS even came away with a course record performance.

“Senior boys Ben Maze and Adam Grant continue to lead the Wildcats,” noted Nobbe. “Ben navigated the hilly, difficult course to earn first place and set a course record. Adam finished right behind him in second. Junior Harmon Marshall was starting to gain ground on Seton Catholic’s Jack Martin, but the finish approached before he could close in. Junior Eric Schwab passed Santiago Schutte halfway through the race and maintained his lead to the end. Sophomore Owen Darwish had his best race of the season with a time of 26:05.”

“The Franklin County girls gave a strong performance on Oldenburg’s technical course which was full of hills and turns,” Nobbe continued.  “Freshman Esther George was second with a time of 26:21. She was followed by senior Katherine Apsley, junior Kenzie Rogers and sophomore Moorea Nobbe. Kenzie and Moorea had their fastest times of the season despite the more difficult terrain.”

We thank coach Nobbe for the information.
