Franklin County CASA issues call to action

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. — In honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, Franklin County CASA is issuing a call to action for residents of Franklin County to stand against child abuse and take action to support children who have been abused or neglected.

Right now, there are 77 children on the CASA caseload.

These children come into the child welfare system through no fault of their own.

Recently there’s been a rise in the number of children coming into the system because of the increased use of heroin and other opioids.

Throughout the month of April, Franklin County CASA is calling on members of the community to help our program serve more of Franklin County’s most vulnerable children.

Franklin County CASA will be giving out free popcorn at the DCS Child Abuse Prevention carnival in the Firestone parking lot on Friday, April 21 from 6-8 pm.

Also scheduled is an open house on Tuesday, April 25 from 5-7 pm and Tuesday, May 2 from 1-5 pm at 483 Main Street, Brookville.

Anyone interested in the CASA program is encouraged to attend.
