RUSHVILLE, IN — A former Decatur County Sheriff’s Detention Deputy is facing several charges following a reported road rage incident in Rush County last Saturday.

The Rush County Sheriff’s Office said Gary Bow was driving in the area of North State Road 3 and County Road 900 North when he passed a semi driven by a Rush County resident and then began brake checking the tractor-trailer.

The two stopped and exchanged words, and Bow allegedly brandished a firearm at the semi driver and yelled from his vehicle that he should arrest him.

Investigators determined that Bow, who lives in Shelbyville, was off duty from his job as a Decatur County Jail deputy at the time of the incident, and has since been terminated.

A warrant was issued for Bow, who was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Impersonating a Public Servant/Law Enforcement Officer (both Level 6 felonies), and Reckless Driving (Class A misdemeanor).

Bow turned himself in this week at the Rush County Jail and was later released on a $1,000 bond.

His initial hearing has been scheduled for May 2 at 1:15 pm in Rush Circuit Court.
