Eva Mae Minger

Eva Mae Minger, 97, of Milan passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Ripley Crossing in Milan.  Eva was born Friday, July 23, 1920, in Gallatin Co., KY, to the late Floyd and Mary Louise (McDanell) Craig. Her family moved to Patriot, Indiana in the middle of her senior year where she graduated from high school in 1938.  She married Keith Minger of Versailles, IN on April 14, 1940.  They were married until his death in March 2005. Eva was a homemaker, an active member of Milan United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for the 3rd and 4th grade children and helped with many church Christmas pageants, she was a member of the United Methodist Women and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.  As a 4-H Leader, Eva was able to share her love and talent for sewing.  With this talent she helped sew the Milan H.S. Band Flag Girls uniforms and the Girls Glee Club dresses from 1961-1964.  Neighbors would get a visit from Eva once a year when she would solicit donations for the Cancer Society. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with family.

Eva is survived by 5 children; Maurice (Catherine) Minger of Milan, Kay Minger (Mike Koontz) of Bloomington, Jerry (Tammy) Minger of Bloomington, Roger (Margie) Minger of Milan and Larry Minger of Milan; 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sisters: Janet Bond of Switzerland County and Lorraine Raisor of OH.  Eva was preceded in death by brother Vachel Craig.

When Keith returned from WWII, he told Eva that he never wanted to leave home again.  She promised him he wouldn’t. This was a promise she took seriously.  Eva cared for her husband at home for the last 8 years of his life with Alzheimer’s.  Many times Eva would say, “I told him he’d never have to leave home again and he won’t.”
