Police arrested 14 people and seized thousands of items at a Brookville flea market on Wednesday morning.

Indiana State Excise Police said they began a month-long investigation after receiving a tip that reported counterfeit items being sold at White’s Sale Barn on Holland Road.

Police found more than a dozen booths that sold counterfeit DVD’s, shoes, jackets, boots, purses, sunglasses, handbags and NBA/NFL jerseys.

“The people operating the booths represented the products as authentic when, in fact, they were not,” Excise Officer Travis Thickstun said in a release.

Some of the DVD’s included movies that are only in theaters and not yet available on DVD in the legal retail market.

Those arrested were preliminarily charged with counterfeiting, a class C felony. Additional charges related to fraud could possibly follow. Names have not yet been released.

Only those operating the booths that sold counterfeit items were arrested, according to the report. The owner of White’s Sale Barn was not charged with any crime.

The flea market is open on Wednesday mornings and features more than 400 vendors and generally has 6,000 to 8,000 customers.

Anyone with information about the counterfeit products should contact authorities at 812-523-8314.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Franklin County Prosecutors Office assisted Excise police with the investigation.
