(Greensburg, IN) – The first in this year’s series of Greensburg Public Safety Community Cookouts takes place Thursday evening from 5  to 7 p.m. on N. East Street between Jorim Drive and 5th Street.

Mayor Joshua Marsh says this and other community cookouts are free and open to everyone and not just Greensburg residents.

If you can’t make the event, three more are planned this season.

The next one is set for Saturday, June 13 at Rebekah Park in conjunction with the Ruff Runner 5K fundraiser benefitting the Greensburg Police Department’s K-9 program. The cookout will begin at Noon.

The event on Thursday, August 20 at North Park from 5 to 8 p.m. will be part of National Night Out and in celebration of America 250.

And the 2026 series will conclude on Thursday, October 15 with a cookout on N. Short Street between 10th and 11th streets from 5 to 7 p.m.

The public safety community cookouts were established in 2021 to engage people with first responders in a positive setting.

They are put on and hosted by the City of Greensburg and its police and fire departments.
