Southeastern IN — Cleanup efforts continue throughout Southeastern Indiana following Friday night’s severe storms and Saturday morning’s heavy rain.

All customers of Southeastern Indiana REMC, Decatur County REMC, and Duke Energy customers in the area who had electric power knocked offline have since had service restored.

Decatur County REMC is thanking crews from other co-ops, such as Miami-Cass REMC, Marshall County REMC, and Kankakee Valley REMC for their help with restoration efforts, which were made necessary due to the widespread reports of downed trees and power lines.

Saturday morning’s heavy rains led to flash flooding in a number of places. Because of high water still being a problem on some roads, Ripley and Franklin counties remained under a Yellow travel advisory. Dearborn County had its Orange travel status lifted late this morning, and normal travel was allowed to resume.

In addition, quite a few homes had flooded basements due to failed or burned-out sump pumps.

Despite all of the damage caused by the storms and floods, there were no injuries reported in Southeastern Indiana.
