Cats and Knights run at Union County

The Franklin County and South Dearborn cross country teams  battled the heat and wind Tuesday at the Union County Invitational.

Franklin County coach Stacey Nobbe said her boys team placed second.

“Adam Grant and Ben Maze have been going back and forth as the top finishers for the Wildcats,” Nobbe stated.  “It was Adam’s turn to be our number one runner as he took fifth place with another season personal best of 18:56, just four seconds away from a career PR.  Ben was right behind him in sixth with a time of 19:00.  Harmon Marshall gave a respectable performance of 19:59.”

The Franklin County girls placed fourth.

“Esther George continues to drop her time,” Nobbe remarked. “Despite the heat and wind, she obtained a personal best of 24:13. She battled it out for the fifth place spot but just couldn’t hang on. Esther finished a very respectable sixth place.”

South Dearborn coach Jeremy Baney reported the SD boys placed seventh out of 10 schools.

“Our top three placed 45th, 46th and 47th overall: Brayson Craig, Brendan Lowe, and Cole Duncan,” said Baney.  “William Rohe was 50th, Andrew Jentzen placed 52nd and Jeremiah Lachenman was 54th.”

The Lady Knights were led by Grayce Klayer in 11th place. She was followed by Kyleigh Berry in 16th, Ava Yelton in 22nd, and Shelby Rohe in 23rd.

We thank coaches Nobbe and Baney for the information.
