Catherine Callis (Clem) Clark, 81

Catherine Callis (Clem) Clark, 81 of Carmel, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022, surrounded by her family.

Born in Louisville to her parents Robert B. Clem and Katharine F. Clem (Koellner), she graduated from Assumption High School and began a 10-year career as an RN at St. Anthony Hospital where she was proud to have been part of their first Intensive Care Unit. She later married Charles Anthony Clark on January 13th, 1968, began a family, and moved to Sunman, Indiana where she was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church for 48 years. Together with Charles, she adopted and raised four children and fostered countless others. Catherine led a life of selfless service to God and others not only in her career but in her home raising her children on her own after the sudden death of her spouse in 1986. Catherine enjoyed good conversation with friends, spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren, a good meal around the table with her family, sharing her birthday with her granddaughter, Holidae, and loving on her beloved pet and companion, Charlie. She lived a simple and faithful life, accepting of those she encountered and loved unconditionally. Her gift she leaves her family is the example of a life well lived, despite life’s hardships and heartaches, she maintained a grateful heart.

Catherine was preceded in her death by her parents, husband, and brothers A.B. (Joan) and Larry Clem.

She is survived by her brother Bob (Sue) and sister-in-law, Sonia Clem; sons, Jason and Christopher; daughters, Catrina (Jeremy) and Heather; grandchildren Allie, Ben, Lauren, Holidae, Brianna, Malik, Isabelle, Katelyn, Joshua, and Oliver; great-grandchildren, Henry, Kinsley, and Heidi, nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Catherine’s funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2022, at St Raphael’s Catholic Church, 2141 Lancashire Ave, Louisville, KY 40205 with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Rd.

The family encourages expressions of sympathy to be made to the Cancer Survivors Fund in honor of her grandchildren Isabelle and Ben.
