(Batesville, IN) – Representatives of the Batesville Memorial Public Library (BMPL) recently toured a new library in Central Indiana.

The Westfield Washington Township Public Library’s new building was constructed by contractor Meyer Najem and designed by KrM Architects. Both firms will design and build the Batesville Arts and Innovation Hub on Walnut Street in 2025.

Three members of the BMPL Board of Trustees and two BMPL staff members explored the Westfield facility and noted how the building had been designed for the best possible use of space.

Features of the Westfield building, which are expected to be incorporated into the Batesville Hub, include a 200-person meeting/convocation space, a Makerspace and an audio/visual studio.

“Washington Township took advantage of their state-of-the-art conference room and loaded it with the best technical equipment,” said BMPL Executive Director Kim Porter. “We were also impressed with the design touches in the use of natural light, the facade, and the building location. It certainly has become a key point in the downtown of that community. I think we can bring a lot of these same ideas to Batesville.”

Construction on the Batesville Arts and Innovation Hub is expected to begin late this year.
