BHS football program recognized for community outreach

Batesville, In. — The Ripley County Community Foundation awarded their President’s Award to the Batesville High School Varsity Football team for their philanthropic idea of Turnover Hunger.  This award recognizes an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond in the area of philanthropy, which has had a significant positive impact on Ripley County.  The Foundation’s board president, Ashlee Theising issued the award because the Batesville Football team is using something that they love – a sport that brings the community together every Friday night, to help some of the County’s most needy. It shows our youth being philanthropic – they were thinking outside the school and city limits and their idea is spreading.  This program will continue during the 2018 season and will include Batesville High School and Oldenburg Academy.

How Turnover Hunger works:

  • You pledge a dollar amount of your choosing to donate for every turnover the Football Team of your choosing (Batesville and/or Oldenburg Academy) forces during the 2018 season.
  • At the end of the football season the Ripley County Community Foundation will contact you with the number of turnovers forced by the team that you chose, and with the amount of your donation that is due.
  • For every dollar raised on the turnovers the football teams force this season, they will distribute your donations between all 8 food pantries in Ripley County.
