Batesville McDonald’s reopens

(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville McDonald’s at Cross County Plaza reopened Tuesday, and the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting (pictured).

The fast food restaurant closed in August for a demolition and rebuild similar to other McDonald’s across the country.

Owner Ed Cummins says customers will notice two big differences at the new Mickey Ds.

“One is something we’ve always wanted here at the restaurant, and that is side-by-side drive through order taking system. That will allow us to take two orders at a time versus one,” Cummings said.

He says you’ll also see a different interior.

“We had a traditional restaurant, four cash registers, we put your order together, and you took it to your table. Today, it’s going to be more of a technology-driven type of customer experience,” Cummings said.

He says that involves using the kiosks – which haven’t been delivered and set up yet – the mobile app, the front counter register or curb side pickup. The order will be made in the back and brought to you.

“The hardest adjustment for all us will be not having a full-service drink station in the lobby,” Cummings said. “All drinks will be made behind the front counter. So that will be a big change.”

Cummings has owned the Batesville location north of I-74 since 1991.
