(Brownstown, IN) – A suspect was arrested shortly after a robbery at the JCBank in Brownstown on Tuesday afternoon.
Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post say Jackson County dispatchers received a bank alarm just after 2:3o p.m.
Troopers say the initial information indicated an armed man entered the bank, pointed a gun at employees, left on foot with cash.
Brownstown Police officers and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies were the first to respond and quickly arrived on the scene.
A witness told law enforcement that a man ran through his yard, got into a black car occupied by two others and fled the area.
A car matching the description was spotted by police, who pulled the vehicle over.
The suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Jeremiah Bragg of Brownstown, got out of the car holding a handgun and a large amount of cash. Bragg soon dropped the weapon and was arrested by Brownstown officers and Jackson County deputies.
ISP troopers and Indiana Conservation Officers arrived on the scene to assist.
Information collected by ISP-Versailles Post detectives indicate Bragg allegedly went into the bank, pointed a gun at a teller and left with about $900 in cash.
Bragg is being held in the Jackson County Jail on a preliminary Robbery (Level 3 felony) charge. Two adult women who were in the car with Bragg were released.
ISP says the investigation is ongoing and that more charges are expected in the case.
Troopers were assisted by the Brownstown Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.
