Southeastern IN — Forecasters say we are in for some rough weather later this week.

The National Weather Service says a strong storm system is expected to bring significant impacts to the weather late Wednesday night through Christmas weekend.

We could see dangerously cold wind chills well below zero, high wind, and accumulating snow.

The agency says it’s too early to say how much snow is expected.

Expected wind chills can cause frostbite in less than five minutes, and hypothermia can happen if precautions are not taken.

Forecasters say travel could be impacted by roads quickly icing over at the onset of arctic air Thursday night, and additional snowfall could cause travel difficulties through Friday.

The National Weather Service suggests you start preparing now by stocking up on supplies and making plans to protect yourself from the cold.

You may have to consider adjusting travel plans heading into Christmas weekend.
