AURORA, Ind. — Police are searching for a man they said tried to break into a historic mansion in Aurora, Indiana.
Police said Gerald Seibert and Cody Tegtmeier were caught by police inside the Hillforest Mansion, a national historic landmark owned and operated by the Hillforest Historical Foundation.
Police said the pair had smoked marijuana, covered their faces with bandannas and then used a ladder to climb into a fourth-story window.
Then the two took cash from a donation jar inside.
Police arrested Seibert but said that Tegtmeier escaped on foot.
Police said Tegtmeier is a 5-foot-11 white male weighing 160 pounds with brown hair, hazel eyes and possibly a nose ring.
Charges for burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, theft and resisting law enforcement have been filed.
