Bulldogs Tracksters Successful At EC Invite

Batesville EC MVPsWhat an awesome and very fun night it was for the Batesville High School track and field teams as they competed at the 6 team East Central Invitational Friday night.  Batesville claimed 9 individual championships and 4 relay championships on the night. The relays were exciting as all 4 came down to the final stretch. The meet also awarded an overall MVP for both the boys and the girls for the athlete that scored the most points for the\night and I am proud to report that both of these athletes were wearing the big “B” on their jersey, representing Batesville High School well.

The MVP’s for the night were freshman, Stephanie Nobbe and senior John Moody. The Batesville men’s team were the overall champions for the night out scoring their opponents by over 30 points.(see picture) They looked amazing! Final points for the guys were: BHS-166, East Central-134, Franklin County-98, Oldenburg Academy-59,
Greensburg-32 and South Dearborn-5. The ladies have been battling some injuries, but many others stepped up to the plate and had some great performances, however, the dogs finished a little short just 16 points behind the Trojans. Final totals for the
girls were: East Central-148, BHS-132, Greensburg-115, Franklin County-60, Oldenburg Academy-46 and South Dearborn-2.

Individual and relay champions for the Bulldogs included:  Garrett Wagner: 110m hurdles (15.57) and 300m hurdles (40.3); John Moody: 200m dash (23.04) and 400m dash (52.12); Stephanie Nobbe: 100m dash (12.99) and 200m dash (26.92)
Zach Mears: 100m dash (11.35); Connor Bell: 800m run (2:04.35); Samantha Heidlage: Discus (108’2”); 4 x 800 relay of: Caleb Moster, Michael Ripperger, Quinten Gowdy and Connor Bell (8:23.95); 4 x 100m relay of: Garrett Wagner, Jacob Koehne, CJ Thomas and Zach Mears (45.37); and 4 x 400m relays of: Garrett Wagner, Connor Bell, Ian Yorn and John Moody (3:33.23) and Clare Bruns, Madeleine Robben, Audrey Hall and Haylee Harmeyer (4:16.66).

Earning runner up for the night were:  Caleb Moster-1600m run and 3200m run; Haylee Harmeyer-400m dash; Clare Bruns-300m hurdles; Morgan Meyer-200m dash; and Nathan Bedel-pole vault.

3rd place finishers were:  Clare Bruns-100m hurdles; Sophie Meadows-100m dash; Madeleine Robben-400m dash; Sarah Poltrack-800m run; Quinten Gowdy-800m ; run; Clay Yeaton-3200m run; Kevin Bedel-shot put; Samanthan Heidlage-shot put; Morgan Meyer-high jump; and John Moody-long jump.

Those earning 4th place were:  Ian Yorn-400m dash; Henry Lipinski-300m hurdles; Adam Bedel-high jump; Kevin Bedel-discus; John Gerstbauer-long jump; Alison Muckerheide-long jump; and Robert Strobel-pole vault.

5th place finishers for the night were:  Nathan Bedel-110m hurdles; Sarah Poltrack-1600m run; Kasey Barrett-300m hurdles; Kevin Bedel-high jump; and Stephanie Nobbe-long jump.

And finishing out the scoring with 6th place were:  Emma Gausman-1600m run; Hannah Canady-high jump; Adam Bedel-discus; Katherine Roell-shot put; and
Lexi Hatcher-pole vault.

Congratulations on a fantastic night! The Bulldogs will now prepare for the County meet which will be held at our home track on Thursday. We will also be recognizing and honoring our seniors at the end of the meet. Please come out and support our
Batesville Track and Field teams. Action begins at 5pm.
