In his younger days, Buck played softball on a team from Brookville which was one of the best in the area that traveled the state. As father time began to catch up with him, he traded his ball spikes for golf spikes and became an avid golfer. He looked forward to a yearly golf trip to Myrtle Beach with several friends. South Carolina was a favorite spot for family vacations as well. The family’s favorite destination was Kiawah Island and there is a story that on one occasion the car broke down. Jenny and the kids are on the side of the road with bags in hand waiting for help, while Buck would periodically slip into a nearby hotel lobby to check the television for updates on the Brickyard 400 race. Other interests including following the Reds and Bengals, enjoying a beer with his nephews or friends and according to his family Buck loved to read, with westerns and James Patterson novels among his favorites. Family was important to Buck and the recent birth of McKenzie, his first grandchild, stole his heart.
