The Milwaukee Brewers came from behind to knock off the Cincinnati Reds 5-3 in the series opener heard last night on WRBI. The Reds held a 3-0 lead through the first five innings, but the Brewers scored five times off the Cincinnati bullpen over the final three frames. The big blow came on a two-out, two-run homer off the bat of Joey Ortiz in the bottom of the 8th inning. Sam Moll took the loss. His record dips to 1-6. Nick Lodolo pitched five scoreless innings of one-hit baseball with four strikeouts. Elly De La Cruz hit his 13th home run of the season – a two-run shot in the 5th inning. The Reds will try to even the series tonight when Rhett Lowder (3-5, 4.81 Earned Run Average) goes to the mound; the Brewers counter with Brandon Sproat (2-4, 5.43 ERA). Coverage begins at 7:10 on 103.9 FM.
Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton held his basketball camp in Indianapolis over the weekend. He gave an update on his recovery from shingles and the Achilles tear that forced him to miss the entire 2025-26 season. “I feel great. Body feels great. I’m able to do everything, I feel like I’m operating like an NBA player for the first time in a long time which is exciting.” Haliburton added he’s “looking forward to helping” former Purdue and new Pacers draftee Braden Smith adjust to playing in the NBA.
Meanwhile, the league’s free agency period begins tonight at 6:00. The Pacers have decided to pick up Micah Potter’s 2.8-million-dollar team option to keep him for next year. Potter played 47 games last year for the Pacers. They also extended a two-way offer to Jalen Slawson who appeared in 13 contests last year for the Blue and Golds. The deal means Slawson will split time between the Pacers and their G-league affiliate, the Noblesville Boom.
