Cindy Schebler Thorne, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Green Valley, Arizona on June 16, 2026.
Born Cynthia Ann Suding on April 17, 1952, to Charles and Virginia (nee Voegele) Suding in Batesville, Indiana, she was the oldest of their five children. She and her siblings were raised on the family farm in Batesville. Cindy attended elementary school at St Louis Catholic School in Batesville, and the Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) (now known as Oldenburg Academy), Oldenburg, IN, Class of 1970.
Cindy was a hard worker, and was known to have “the gift of gab”. Moving to Alaska in 1983 proved to be a good transition for Cindy. She worked in the job placement industry until she was able to open her own employment agency. In 1989, she opened Personnel Plus in Anchorage, Alaska. She worked hard and thrived, opening a branch office in Fairbanks, Alaska just a few years later.
She married Robert Joseph Thorne II of Detroit, MI on August 21, 2015 in Hawaii. Bob was a devoted husband whom she shared many interests. She retired from her business in Jan 2019. After retirement Cindy and Bob spent summers at their home in the Kenai Keys, Alaska, and winters at their home in Green Valley, Arizona.
Cindy enjoyed life and her vibrant demeanor was felt by all. Socializing was among what she enjoyed most in work as well as retirement. Most days she could be found golfing, fishing for salmon, hiking, at the casino or her and Bob spending time having cocktails and dinner with their many friends. She travelled extensively, taking her family, parents & siblings along often on trips.
In addition to her husband, survivors include; her son, Mike (Lacy) Schebler; Anchorage, AK, granddaughters, Cristin (Kyle) Panamaroff, Anchorage, AK, Shyanne (Bradyn) Holly, Soldotna, AK, grandson, Dante Schebler, Anchorage, AK, and great-grand children Sadie Panamaroff and Niko Holly. Additional survivors include three sisters; Nancy (Keith) Hull, Wasilla, AK; Char (Steve) Dallas, Batesville, IN; Rita (Dave) Lykins, Sunman, IN; one brother, Dwight (Yvette) Suding of Batesville; as well as eight nieces & nephews.
Cindy’s wishes were to be cremated. Celebrations of Life will take place in the three places she called home; Batesville, IN, Anchorage, AK and Green Valley, AZ (dates yet to be determined). She will be interred at the Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery in Anchorage, Alaska.
Cindy was an avid supporter of St Jude’s Research Hospital, so anyone wishing to make a donation in Cindy’s honor, may do so to this charity.
