
Batesville senior golfer Jon Moody won the Fred A. Keesling Mental Attitude Award at the IHSAA State Finals in Carmel. The award is presented by the IHSAA Executive Committee to one senior who best demonstrates excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership, and athletic ability during their high school career. Moody is only the fourth athlete in Batesville school history to receive this honor. Bulldog classmate Ava South won the same award last fall during the girls golf state finals. On the course, Moody shot a 77 on the first day and fired a 76 on day two. He finished tied for 31st with a two-day total nine-over-par-153.
The New York Mets hammered the Reds 9-1 in the series finale in downtown Cincinnati heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. New York plated three runs in the 3rd inning, and blew the game open with a four-run 5th before tacking on two more runs in the 8th inning. Nick Lodolo started and went 4 2/3 innings, giving up seven earned runs on 11 hits with two walks and two strikeouts. He took the loss and is now 2-2. Cincinnati could only muster five hits and were 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. But the Reds still take the series, winning two out of three games. The Reds have today off before heading to the Bronx for the start of a three-game series against New York’s other team, the Yankees, tomorrow night. Airtime is 6:35 on 103.9 FM.
The Indiana Fever take on the Atlanta Dream in WNBA action tonight in downtown Indianapolis. The Fever are 9-5 and have won four straight. Tipoff is at 7:30.
Meanwhile, the WNBA will expand its regular season schedule from the current 44 games to 50 contests beginning with the 2027 season. The league says additional details about the ’27 schedule will be announced at a later date.
