Batesville carded a 346 and finished 16th in Saturday’s Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association (IHSGCA) Hall of Fame Invitational at Rock Hollow Golf Club in Peru. Ian Hixson led the Bulldogs by shooting an 82. He was followed by Jon Moody at 84; Landon Raver fired an 87; Cooper Phebus carded a 93, and Caleb Laker finished at 95.

The Pittsburgh Pirates completed the sweep and beat the Reds 1-0 in the series finale at PNC Park heard yesterday on WRBI. The Pirates scored the game’s only run in the 8th inning. Reds starter Chase Burns pitched brilliantly but did not figure into the decision. He tossed  7 scoreless innings and gave up three hits and one walk while striking out seven. The Reds open a four-game series tonight against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Righthander Chase Petty has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville and is set to make his 2026 big league debut. The Indiana Fever closed out their preseason with a 105-57 win over the Nigerian national team on Saturday. Kelsey Mitchell led the way with 17 points, and Caitlin Clark added 12 points. Head coach Stephanie White called it a good defensive effort, as well. With the preseason concluded, the Fever will begin their regular season against the Dallas Wings on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Alex Zanardi, the Italian auto racing champion-turned-Paralympic gold medalist whose career was marked by two life-altering accidents, has died. He was 59. Zanardi’s family announced his death on Saturday, saying that he passed away on Friday night. Zanardi was a two-time CART champion in the late 1990s. He never raced in the Indianapolis 500.

A dark horse came from behind to win the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Golden Tempo had 23-1 odds entering the Run for the Roses at Churchill Downs in Louisville. The three-year-old colt rallied from last place to win by a neck, paying about $48 dollars on a two-dollar bet. The next leg in horse racing’s Triple Crown is The Preakness on May 16. Trainer Cherie DeVaux has not committed Golden Tempo to the Preakness yet.
