South Decatur High School held the basketball awards ceremony Monday night to celebrate one of the most successful seasons in school history. Varsity award winners included seniors Drake Scaggs (Most Valuable Player; 1,000 point career scorer; All Mid-Hoosier Conference Team; Honorable Mention All-State), Grady Scudder (Mental Attitude), Karson Templeton (Most Improved) and Cayden Drake (Cougar Award; All Mid-Hoosier Conference Team; Honorable Mention All-State). The Cougars won the sixth boys basketball sectional championship in school history, finishing 18-7 with a state-best win improvement of plus-12 from the previous season.

The Cincinnati Reds open a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies tonight at Great American Ball Park. Chase Burns gets the start for Cincinnati. He’s 2-1 with a 2.57 ERA. Airtime on 103.9 FM is 6:10.

One of college football’s top returning players is finding himself in some off-field trouble. Former UC and current Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby is checking into a residential treatment program for a gambling addiction. ESPN reports that Sorsby is under NCAA investigation in the wake of the discovery that he has made thousands of online bets on a variety of sports via a gambling app. Sorsby reportedly bet on Indiana football while redshirting for the Hoosiers as a true freshman in 2022.

British driver Katherine Legge will make her return to the Indianapolis 500 this year. It was announced on Monday that Legge will be in the #11 Chevrolet for HMD Motorsports in partnership with AJ Foyt Racing. This will be Legge’s fifth start in the race. In 2023, she became the fastest woman to ever qualify for the Indy 500. Legge wll will be the only female driver in this year’s race. Meanwhile, testing begins today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Indy 500. Drivers entered in this year’s race will turn laps on the oval to begin dialing in their cars.
