Hayden Grant Koger, age 19 of Brookville

Hayden Grant Koger, lovingly known as “Hammer,” was born on May 23, 2006, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was the cherished son of Ryan and Sara Koger.

Hayden was a proud graduate of Franklin County High School, Class of 2025. Throughout his high school years, he worked at Morgan’s Canoe and later after graduation at ChrisNik in Okeana, Ohio.

Hayden was one of the kindest, most respectful young men you could ask for—truly a “yes ma’am” or “no thanks” kind of guy. He consistently went out of his way to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether it was a big job or something as simple as carrying in groceries for his Grandma Sandi. His thoughtfulness and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He was very intelligent from a young age, even building full LEGO sets when he was only five. To say he loved the outdoors would be an understatement. Hayden felt most at home in the woods, especially when he was hunting, it was something he truly loved. He enjoyed fishing too, but hunting was his thing. He also spent a lot of time at Perfect North Slopes, where he fearlessly carved his way down the slopes on his snowboard, embracing every thrill with a true daredevil spirit. Time spent with Hayden was time well spent. He had a rare gift for lifting spirits and making even the hardest days feel a little lighter. Simply being in his presence left your heart feeling fuller and your burdens a little easier to carry. Above all, Hayden loved his family deeply—fiercely and without measure.

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the age of 19, Hayden passed away unexpectedly at his home, surrounded by the nature he loved.

“Hammer” had a way of making life a little better for everyone around him, and that is how he will always be remembered.

Those surviving who will cherish Hayden’s memory include his loving parents, Ryan and Sara Koger; three siblings, Ethan Koger, Colton Koger (fiancé, Piper Twiggs), and Alayna Koger; grandparents, Sandi and Jerry Baker, Tim and Mary Koger, and Butch Horn; great-grandparents, Marshall and Cathy Koger; special aunt, Lisa (Greg) Briggs; as well as his companion of 3 years, Zoey Branstetter. Hayden was preceded in death by his uncle, Jared Ray Baker; grandmother, Patricia Ellison Horn; and great grandparents, Bob and Barbara Bishop.
