East Central outslugged Batesville 11-8 in varsity baseball last evening at the Dawg Pound. Brayeden Reis and Vinny Keck both clubbed solo home runs to lead the Trojan offense, which pounded out 16 hits. Jackson Elston led the Bulldogs with three of their 10 hits…East Central shut out Batesville in the JV contest 10-0.

Batesville boys golf won a very competitive tri-match with East Central and Jennings County at Hillcrest. It was the Bulldogs 160, the Trojans 165, and the Panthers 166. Batesville’s Ian Hixson took medalist honors by shooting a 3-under-par 38.

In middle school golf, Shelbyville won a three-way match at Greensburg Country Club with Batesville and the host Pirates. It was the Golden Bears 170, and the Bulldogs winning the tie breaker with Greensburg at 206. Rowan Maple carded a 45 to lead BMS.

The San Francisco Giants blanked the Reds 3-0 in downtown Cincinnati in a game heard yesterday afternoon on WRBI. All three of the Giants runs were unearned, and scored in the top of the 7th inning. After Luis Arraez reached on an error, Matt Chapman drove him home with the first run. Jung Hoo Lee and Casey Schmitt added RBI singles. The Reds mustered only one hit on the afternoon – a P.J. Higgins single in the 6th. Chase Burns pitched well but did not figure into the decision. He gave up two hits in six innings, walked one and struck out four. Brock Burke took the loss in relief. His record dips to 1-1. Despite the loss, the Reds win the series two games to one. The Reds open a two-city, six-game road trip with the first of three tonight in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Twins. Lefthander Brandon Williamson gets the start for Cincinnati. He’s 1-1 with a 5.28 ERA. Coverage begins at 7:40 tonight on 103.9 FM.
