Dominic Werner, 20 years old of St. Leon, passed away on Sunday, March 1, after a courageous fight with a rare form of germ cell cancer. Dominic graduated from East Central High School in 2024 and was looking forward to starting college for teaching special education. He loved being outside and most often you could find him riding his dirtbike at his grandparents’ property. After a long day of riding, nothing felt more relaxing than playing his Xbox. But, playing board games and just hanging out with his family was one of his favorite ways to spend his time. Bubba and Bella, as Dominic and his sister Isabella called one another, along with their parents enjoyed those quiet evenings at home and his laughter during those moments will not be forgotten. Dominic was sweet and kind and even through his treatments acted as if he didn’t have a care in the world. The family acknowledges the wonderful and caring staff at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital who cared for Dominic as if he was their own. They all wanted to be a part of Dominic’s world and were crushed to learn they were going to lose him.
Dominic will be deeply missed by his parents Jeff and Becky (Cooper) Werner; sister Isabella; grandparents Judy & Charlie “Pop” Werner and Nancy & Tony “Pop” Cooper; aunts & uncles Jacob Cooper, Sarah Cooper, Mara & Marriah Cooper, Kelly & Daniel Creighton, Tim & Lisa Werner, Greg & Amy Werner; his many cousins Lucy, Emma, James, Ben, Athena, Ambrose, and Caden; and best friends Finn and Tucker.
Services honoring Dominic will be held on Saturday, March 7 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Dominic was a simple kid and would appreciate everyone dressing casually. Visitation will be held from 11:30am – 1:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00pm at St. Joseph’s Campus of All Saints Parish. Burial in the church cemetery will immediately follow. For those unable to attend, Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/user/aspweeklyhomily. Memorials in Dominic’s honor can be made to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and will be accepted at the visitation, can be made online via the obituary, or can be mailed to the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com.
